OUR STUDENTS

Our students are a diverse and inclusive group of learners who enjoy coming to Cork Life Centre every day. They are fun, caring, enthusiastic and always strive to do their best. Our staff work hard to provide a supportive and enriching environment that allows each student to reach their full potential. We are always proud of our students, who continuously demonstrate commitment to their education and a better future both in and out of the classroom.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Cork Life Centre offers a range of extra-curricular activities for students to participate in, providing an opportunity for fun, laughter, and a time to bond with classmates.  Our activities also help develop life skills such as teamwork, problem solving, communication, and social and interpersonal skills.  Whether it’s rowing on the River Lee with our good friends in Meitheal Mara, sailing in Kinsale Harbour with the support of Sailing Into Wellness, voyaging around the Irish coast with SailTraining Ireland or exploring vital work place skills with SeeMySkills, we support our young people to discover and amplify their strengths (seemyskills.org) Some of our students also have the opportunity to avail of trips away with EIL Ireland, pushing them outside their comfort zones and allowing them to explore and discover new places.  We are always searching for new ways to provide creative opportunities for our students to learn, grow, explore, and make lifelong memories.

Wrap-Around Supports

At Cork Life Centre, we know that wellbeing is a key component of learning and we provide a number of supports to our young people to help them to stay present and maximise their ability to learn.  We aim to provide a safe and nurturing environment for students to explore and grow.  We offer several creative activities and events which are designed to help students engage with their peers, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and have fun.  We also offer counselling on-site to students who need to avail of extra support.   The Community Worker role is an essential part of how we support students and families, and it has three main foci – supporting engagement and attendance with current students in all years; facilitating future planning and preparation with students in senior cycle; and staying connected to and supporting students who have left the Centre.
